My WHY…

I truly believe getting a good photo of yourself, your child or with your sweetie should be relaxing, even fun -and not feel like a luxury. I strive to make this business one that works for us all, and keep the process simple and straight forward.

My photography background….

It all started when I kept getting into my dad's photography gear.  Too young to really use his Rollei twin lens reflex camera, but so amazed how it worked with the contact sheets of images when they arrived weeks later.   By the time I was in middle school he gave me my own Rollei, a compact fully manual 35 mm film camera that required me to really set focus and learn exposure settings.  I took photojournalism classes and worked on the yearbooks in college; and afterwards worked weekends & evenings at a camera store for the great deals on gear while also working 60+ hours for my career jobs in the Marketing Communications & Consumer Promotions fields. Later, as a mom of four, I had fast moving, moody subjects to focus on and capture the everyday moments in our family life.

That really dates me, but the core of photography has not changed.  It all about capturing light to tell a story, hold a moment in time and share a meaningful perspective.  The gear has gotten so much more user friendly, but the need for good photography itself has not change.   Just ask a parent, friend or journalist - strong photos still speak loud and clear and hold a place in today's age of video and iPhones.

It wasn’t until my niece asked me several times to photograph her dream wedding that I dug deep to get myself to a true professional skill & gear level. Steadfast encouragement of family & friends has incredible, you will find their portraits along with wonderful clients on this website. I am blessed.
